Now comes some finish woodworking. This means that it will be visible from the outside once the tiny house is completed. It will also be subjected to weather and sunlight. For these reasons and more I have chosen to use cypress with its rot and bug resistance.
The trim pieces are all made from Cypress lumber and stained with Minwax Dark Walnut. In part this is to further protect the trim, but also because I want it to contrast with the cedar siding I will be installing later.
My sister, Sabrina, was back in town and wanted to help so I put her to work.
The bathroom window will have to wait to be trimmed until the counterbalances can be replaced. The main corners are trimmed big and bold. They should really stand out after the cedar siding is in place. We are still working on the gable windows. More on those in a future post.
That’s all for now. Next post I’ll cover the shaping of the cedar siding.
The window trim looks fantastic!
Thanks Linda, we’re working on the gable windows and cedar siding next. It’s exciting to see it turning out so close to my initial renderings. I hope your tiny house is moving along smoothly as well.
